1st Kashmiri Expedition

A Divn as per margin assembled at Mari 25 Sep 1887 + marching by the Jhellum occupied Srinigar 4th Oct under H.I.M. The Maharajah fled to the S bank where he collected his troops. After a foraging expedition up the Erintrillah H.I.M. returned to Srinigar on the evening of the 14th Oct, crossed the Jhellum in boats under heavy fire, attacked + routed the Kashmiri Army. The Rajah at once capitulated + next day H.I.M. marched his troops out of the capital on their return to India.
